Do you offer Medical Rebates?

Medicare rebates are not currently available for counselling and psychotherapy sessions.  They will be available as of late 2027.

How Long are Sessions?

Accepted Answer

Adult Counselling & Psychotherapy
New client sessions: 90 minutes
Returning sessions: 60 minutes

Child, Adolescent & Parent Sessions
These sessions are held within a 60-minute appointment space, allowing additional time for transitions, parent communication, clinical reflection and note-writing where appropriate.
Approximate direct session times:
Child sessions: 45 minutes
Adolescent sessions: 50 minutes
Parent sessions: 50 minutes

What’s your cancellation policy?

Cancellations require 48 hours’ notice. This respects both your time and mine, and helps keep spaces open for others who need them.

Do you offer NDIS-supported sessions?

Accepted Answer

Yes, sessions may be available for self-managed or plan-managed NDIS participants where appropriate. If you would like to explore whether this may be a suitable option for you or your child, you are welcome to get in touch.

Child Support: Ages 5 –12
Teen: Ages 13–17
Adults: Ages 18+

Do I need to book a parent consultation before booking a child session?

Accepted Answer

For younger children, a parent consultation is generally recommended before beginning child counselling sessions. This helps create a deeper understanding of the child’s emotional world, strengths, current concerns and wider family context.
Older adolescents may attend independently where appropriate.

Question 8

What happens in a Parent Intake Session for Child Counselling?

Accepted Answer

This initial session is held with the parent or caregiver prior to beginning child counselling. Together, we explore your child’s emotional world, current concerns, strengths, nervous system patterns and wider family context to help create a deeper understanding of what may be happening beneath the surface.

These are not compulsory sessions, but advised so the therapist has time to understand the challenges the child faces prior to sitting with a therapist.

Can parents be in a child support session?

Accepted Answer

Parent involvement is often an important part of supporting children and adolescents. Depending on the child’s age and needs, this may include parent consultations, check-ins or collaborative support where appropriate. At the same time, it is also important for children and young people to have space to build trust, safety and emotional expression within their own therapeutic relationship.

What happens in a Parent Support Session?

Parent support sessions offer a compassionate and non-judgemental space for parents to explore the emotional challenges that can arise while supporting a child or adolescent. 
Sessions often include psychoeducation, emotional support and a collaborative exploration of what may be happening beneath the child’s behaviour, emotions or overwhelm, helping support greater understanding and connection within the family system.
